Browsing in the library...
  • Open the book, and read the inside cover flaps and the back cover. Then, read the first page to decide if you will like it.
  • Talk to the librarian about your favorite subjects or authors and ask for recommendations.
Checking Amazon.com for books...
  • Go online to Amazon.com and look for books on subjects you like. In the search box, type in key words like "King Arthur" or "time travel."
  • Then, click on books that come up in the list and look at the number of stars they've received by reviewers. If they get 4 or 5 stars, read some of the reviews written by people who read the book.
  • If you have an Amazon account, put the book in your Wish List for reference later if you think you'd like to read it.
  • Take your list to the library or bookstore and check the card catalog computer or ask the librarian if the books are available.
  • If you can't find the one you want, ask the librarian about requesting the book through Interlibrary Loan. Then, see if the library has another book written by the same author. Read it while you wait for the other one to come in.
